Association Ringing Festival – Saturday 25th October 2025

The Autumn Ringing Festival for the IACR will be in the Northern District this year. I’d like to encourage as many IACR ringers as can to attend. Details below:

Sunday Service ringing at Hillsborough is from 11:30 to 12:00
I will need numbers, especially for dinner on Saturday so would ask that people send on confirmations as soon as they can – everyone can contact me directly or through their district/tower.
A Southern District Practice will take place in Christ Church Cathedral, Waterford on Saturday 18th October 2025 from 14.00-16.00.
The Eastern District Practice on Saturday 11th October 2025 will now take place in Bray same time 14.00 – 16,00 hrs.
Update 31st August 2025 – Galbraith Cup
Thanks to Everyone who travelled today to the 5th Annual Galbraith Cup. There was 9 teams taking part this year and the feedback was that the afternoon was enjoyed by all. There was a minute’s silence at the beginning of the competition to remember ringers who have previously been with us but who passed on this year. We had 3 representatives from the committee who were responsible for bringing the St George’s bells to Taney. As the first main ring was to bring in the Millennium, we are now in the 25th year of the St George’s bells being in Taney, we had a cake to celebrate that. Helen and Brian

Bryan A Brislane
The death has been announced of Bryan A. Brislane of St. Mary’s Cathedral, Limerick. A member of the IACR since 1944 and an Honorary Life Member of the Association since 1996.

Condolences to Kieron, Darrell and all the Brislane family, one of life’s great gentlemen has passed he will be dearly missed by all who knew him and especially by his wife Betty and all the extended family. There is ringing in St Mary’s Cathedral on Friday 29th August 2025 from 11am before the funeral and also some ringing afterwards if any ringers are attending. Ringers are requested to meet in the Locke Bar across the road for coffee from around 10:15.

There is an event in Donard Park on 6th Sept, so please be aware traffic in Newcastle may be heavy later in the day.
Quarter Peal Month – from Niamh – IACR Assocaition Ringing Master
September is Quarter Peal Month. This is a great opportunity for firsts – first Quarter Peal, first inside, first in method, first as conductor.
And if you’d like to ring in a quarter but maybe don’t have a local band, get in touch with other towers/ringers and I’m sure a band can be found.
I’ll be available for as many as I can get to.
Galbraith Cup – reminder
The 5th Annual Galbraith Cup is on Saturday 30th August 2025 in Taney. Registration is at 12 noon and the competition will begin as near to 1pm as possible. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible for the usual fun and chats. Helen and Brian.
