Update 21st September 2024
It was with sadness that Ben Robinson, from St Mary’s Kilmood died on 4th September 2024, Ben was a big part of the bell-ringing community in Kilmood, an enthusiastic ringer and will be greatly missed, his Obituary can be found here. Also Edith Barry from SS Phillip and James Holywood died on 8th September 2024, Edith was a Stalwart of the Northern District for many years holding, numerous of offices from Chairperson, Vice President, and representative on the Executive council for many years. her Obituary can be found here,
Association Cups Valuation – reminder Northern District Trophies
- All Association and District Cups in the Northern District are to be brought to the Northern District Practice in Holywood on Saturday 7th September 2024.
A service of Re-dedication
- Plans for Doneraile’s rededication: Saturday 14th September: quarter-peal attempt, meet 11am, ropes available, method depending on the band. General ringing 2-5pm.
Sunday 15th September: general ringing from 11am. Barbecue 12.30pm. Service of Rededication by the Bishop of Cork 3pm; general ringing before and after the service. Please let Julia know (086-8293359, lysaghtjulia@gmail.com) if you would like a rope on the Saturday quarter-peal, and we also need approximate numbers for Sunday, for catering purposes. - All ringers are very welcome to attend this service, and there will be ringing opportunities on both Saturday and Sunday for all levels of expertise – we want to make it a weekend of celebration.
District Practices and Events September 2024
- Northern District Practice – Saturday 7th September 2024. This Practice will now take place in SS Philip and James, Holywood – 14.00 – 17.00 hrs and not Enniskillen as originally planned.
- Eastern District Practice and Talyor Cup – Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin – 13.00 – 16.00 hrs
- A service of Re-dedication – is to be held in St Mary’s Doneraile on Sunday 15th September 2024
- Northern District Iveagh Cup – Saturday 28th September 2024 – St Mary’s – Kilmood
- Fred Bogan Trophy (for Southern District towers) – Sunday 20th October 2024, in Doneraile. Draw at 2pm. Teams to ring plain hunt on 5, with 6th covering, for 10 minutes.
Future Date – West Cork Ringing Festival – January 2025 – Early notice.
