An message from IACR President Julia Lysaght

I wish all our members God’s blessing at Christmas and a joyful and prosperous New Year, and I’m looking forward to celebrating together the 125th Anniversary of the IACR in 2023.

 


Sadly we start this report with the news of the passing of John Kane, of John’s Lane tower, in Dublin. A consummate gentle man, he will be missed by all who knew him. We send our condolences to his family .. funeral detail can be seen on RIP.IE  at this link.

ED Practice at Taney –
An Eastern District Practice will take place at Taney Tower, Churchtown on 10th December 2022.

Ringing will be from 2 to 4 pm.

Christmas Dinner at CCC –
Christchurch Cathedral Bell-ringers will host a Christmas Dinner in the Crypt at Christchurch on

Thursday 15 December 2022 from 7 pm.
A reception with prosecco in the crypt will be followed by a buffet of meat and salads.

The cost for the night is 20 euro per person, which is a subsidised cost.
If you would like to attend and bring a guest or guests, please contact Una Caulfield or Sorcha Duggan to confirm.

As we approach Christmas and the New Year, many towers will have additional ringing to normal Sunday times – if any tower wishes to advertise their times, please let any of the web committee know, and we’ll add them here.

Christmas Eve ringing:

  • St. Mary’s Cathedral, Limerick, at 9.30pm for 10.00pm service.
  • St. Mary’s, Doneraile, at 10.30pm for 11pm Service

New Year’s Eve ringing:

  • St. Mary’s Cathedral, Limerick, meet at 11.15pm for 12 midnight ringing. Refreshments served before ringing.
  • St. Mary’s, Doneraile, meet at 11.45pm
  • St. Mary’s Dunmanway, at 23.50
  • St. Canice’s Cathedral, Kilkenny – Following the Watchnight Service at 11.45pm the half-muffled bells will ring to wake 2022 and after midnight will ring clear to welcome 2023!
    We expect a good crowd of visitors up in the Tower for the 1st time in 3 years to watch !🔔🔔
    We’re short a couple of ringers so if any are free they will be most welcome!!
