Long Service Awards

At a recent function, given by Dean Maurice Sirr of St Mary's to mark  his retirement and to say thank you to the ringers of St Mary's for their service to the Cathedral, long service awards were presented to 3 ringers from St Mary's Cathedral and to Jack Sciascia of Mt St Alphonsus for his long and continued contribution to the ringing in St Mary's. The St Mary's ringers were Bryan Brislane, Ken Brislane and Tom Marsden, who between them have over 180 years service to the ringing in St Mary's.
The awards were specially commissioned medallions in 18ct gold and were designed by Sarah Gough a former ringer in St Mary's.
The Dean was also presented with a silver medallion to mark his years as President of St Mary's, he has given over 20 years to the ringers.
A most enjoyable evening was had by all with a magnificent meal prepared by the Dean wife Mrs. Paddy Sirr.
